Vanity Vents are outside exterior crawl space vent covers that feature high durability and resistance to most damage, dents, scratches and will never rust. It is also resistant to insects, graffiti, mold and bacteria.

Vanity Vents are environmentally stabilized to withstand the harshest weather conditions. It will not warp, rot, or delaminate when exposed to humidity or water. Vanity Vent material does not break down under exposure to sunlight or extremes of heating or freezing. Individual vents may bow slightly, but this only enhances it’s ability to do its job. Remember, an absolute seal is not the goal. It is not necessary for Vanity Vents to be fully effective.

Vanity Vents are made from a tough, strong material that’s used in a wide variety of applications – to store water, to store food (meets all US FDA requirements), has many commercial applications, and comes with a GREENGuard Gold Certification*.

Vanity Vent materials have a working temperature of -20 degrees to 120 degrees F.

Please note that Vanity Vents are designed to be an outdoor construction type product for home improvement. Because Vanity Vents are made of recycled materials and like a piece of lumber (e.g., a two by four) your Vanity Vents may have slight marks on them… not visible to the eye if you are 4-5 feet away. We will always provide you with near mint condition vent covers but please be aware that due to the nature of the material we are dealing with… your Vanity Vents will not always have a perfect surface. If a Vanity Vent doesn’t meet our high quality standards then we will make it available as an “imperfect” vent cover at a reduced cost on our website when available.

NO MAINTENANCE

Vanity Vents require minimal maintenance. Squirt them with a hose and wipe with a wet towel or wet brush if you feel they need it. It’s extremely easy and there’s no need to use heavy-duty harsh chemicals and they never need refinishing.

ECO-FRIENDLY

Vanity Vents are made from Eco-friendly, post-consumer products that are recyclable at the end of their useful life. They create no harmful emissions during its production or during its use by the consumer.  Also, Vanity Vent material does not leak toxic chemicals into the soil or water. Manufacturing Vanity Vents requires only a fraction of the energy required to produce steel from iron ore, further contributing to its classification of being Eco-friendly. Healthy Building** recommends Vanity Vents material as the most environmentally friendly building material of its type.

Vanity Vents are made entirely from FDA and USDA approved material and do not contain BPAs, phthalates, heavy metals or allergens.

Vanity Vents are not recommended for areas that have radon gas issues.

You have crawlspace vents on all four sides of your home that let cold air in during the Winter and hot air in during the Summer. Vanity Vents not only cover those unsightly vents (or worse yet the Styrofoam plugs people use…) to beautify your home but it helps to weatherize your home too by keeping cold air out in the Winter and hot air out in the Summer.

From personal testing Vanity Vents will keep your crawl space 15-20 degrees warmer in the Winter as well as 15-20 degrees cooler in the Summer. Also, the humidity in your crawl space is correspondingly improved by 15-20 percent. (your results may vary)

Note: Your Vanity Vents are not intended to be perfectly flush with your crawl space outer wall/foundation… there may be some slight openings (very minimal) and that is ok. You do not want a perfectly sealed crawl space (in most cases). If you do see excessive concrete splash on the facing of your vent cover that interferes with a better seal/fit then you should use protective eyewear and gloves to chip the excess concrete off with a hammer and flat screwdriver. Note: If you live in an area that is identified as having radon gas in the soil then Vanity Vents are not recommended. You will know if your home is in an area that experiences radon gas as it is required by law to disclose such information upon purchase or sale of a home. Radon is a radioactive gas that forms naturally when uranium, thorium, or radium, which are radioactive metals break down in rocks, soil and groundwater. When radon gas enters the body, it exposes the lungs to small amounts of radiation. In small quantities, experts say this is harmless. However, in persistent exposures or larger quantities, radon can damage the cells of the lining of the lungs, increasing a person’s chance of developing lung cancer.
